Saudi Arabia plans to attract 30mn pilgrims by 2030

Muscat: Saudi Arabia has announced a plan to attract 30 million pilgrims by 2030, the Kingdom's Minister of Hajj and Umrah revealed.
Minister Dr. Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten, in a meeting with the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Abdul Hakim Mohammed Al-Tamimi, agreed to a joint action strategy to achieve the Kingdom's ambitious target.
Al-Tamimi said in a statement after the meeting, "I was pleased to meet with my brother, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, allowing us to set up a joint action plan between the two sides to receive 30 million pilgrims in 2030."
The agreed-upon roadmap includes implementing 'Open Air' policies during Umrah and Hajj among other initiatives.
The number of Umrah pilgrims from outside the kingdom has tripled over the last decade to reach 8 million pilgrims.
