Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Nasr bin Hamood Al Kindi, Secretary General of the Royal Court Affairs presided over the ceremony to honour the winners in 28th Sultan Qaboos Competition for Memorisation of the Holy Quran.
A total of 16 winners in six different levels were honoured at the event.
His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, the Sultanate’s Grand Mufti gave a speech in which he spoke about the significance for having deep insights of the verses and memorisation of the Holy Quran among other things.
Habib bin Mohammed Al Riyami, Secretary General of Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science said that the competition receives the Royal care and attention of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
He also added that the current competition has seen the participation of more than a thousand participants of both genders.
On the conclusion of the ceremony, Nasr bin Hamood Al Kindi, Secretary General of the Royal Court Affairs honoured the winners of the top three places in each level of the competition as well as the members of the Organising Committee.
The ceremony was attended by a number of undersecretaries, preachers and scholars.
