Zubair, NBO, Maniz Azad register emphatic victories

MUSCAT: Sunil Kumar’s unbeaten 70 off 46 balls helped Zubair CT to a 5-wicket victory over Douglas OHI in a D Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 2 on Friday.
Batting first Douglas OHI scored 134 for 9 in 20 overs, Nadeem Ahmed topscoring with 42. Fazal Khan and Parthiban Mohan took three wickets each.
Sunil’s valiant knock was the highlight of Zubair’s chase which was helped by a fluent 23 by Amjad Muhammed.
The target was achieved in the 18th over as Zubair scored 135 for 5. Ameer Muavisa claimed two wickets for OHI.
Brief scores (D Division): Douglas OHI 134 for 9 in 20 overs (Nadeem Ahmed 42 – 5x4, 1x6, Abhishek Rai 23 – 1x4, 1x6. Fazal Khan 3-20, Parthiban Mohan 3-31) lost to Zubair CT 135 for 5 in 17.2 overs (Sunil Kumar 70 not out – 10x4, 1x6, Amjad Muhammed 23 – 3x4. Ameer Muavisa 2-22) by 5 wickets.
Ratre spurs NBO to easy win
In another D Division match, National Bank of Oman trounced Khalsa United by 5 wickets thanks to Homeshwarv Ratre’s brilliant half century.
Khalsa United posted 153 for 6 in 20 overs, Shreerang Trivedi (42) and Rashid Aziz being the main scorers. Moazzam Shah of NBO picked up two wickets.
NBO raced to the target in the 15th over thanks to Ratre’s superb knock. He was ably supported by Baiju Lawrance who contributed an unbeaten 41. Prashamit Barua took two wickets.
Brief scores (D Division): Khalsa United 153 for 6 in 20 overs (Shreerang Trivedi 42 – 4x4, Rashid Aziz 23 – 2x4, 1x6. Moazzam Shah 2-25) lost to NBO 155 for 5 in 14.5 overs (Homeshwar Ratre 69 – 7x4, 2x6, Baiju Lawrance 41 not out – 7x4. Prashamit Barua 2-10) by 5 wickets.
Adeel shines in big win
Opener Adeel Anwar magnificent 120 not out powered Maniz Azad International to a big 80run victory against OCT Al Hail B in an F Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 4.
Maniz Azad amassed 216 for 4 in 20 overs thanks to Adeel’s entertaining knock that saw him hit 15 fours and 6 sixes. Adnan Ahmed chipped in with a useful 42. Khalil Rajab bagged three wickets.
OCT Al Hail failed to shine, folding up for a meager 136 in the final over. Waheed Rasool and Taiz Malla scored 21 each. Majid Hussein and Hafiz Naeem claimed two wickets each.
