Teachers working for Indian schools in Oman must not engage in private tuition, and will be dealt with severely if caught.

A member of the board governing Indian schools has written to the principals requesting to shut down any private tuition run by their school teachers.

The letter alleges that despite it being illegal under both Omani and Indian law, teachers of Indian schools continue to give private tuition in Oman.

“All principals are requested to ensure that teachers of their respective schools, right from kindergarten to class XII are not engaged in giving private tuition and private teaching activities with immediate effect. It may be brought to the notice of the teachers that severe disciplinary action will be taken against those teachers who fail to comply.” - M P Vinoba, education advisor wrote to the principals
