Oman hosts refresher course to sharpen skills of cricket coaches

MUSCAT: Keen to take the game of cricket forward by introducing latest coaching techniques, Oman Cricket hosted a 3-day Asian Cricket Council’s Level 3 Refresher Course for coaches from December 20 to 22.
Attended by 17 coaches from 8 countries, the course was conducted by ACC with Ali Zia of Pakistan leading the proceedings as its Head Presenter.
He was assisted by Shahid Aslam from Pakistan, Rajiv Dutta from India and Duleep Mendis from Oman. The event also saw the presence of four observers from Oman.
“Bangladesh had hosted the Level 3 coaching course some time ago and ACC conducted a refresher course here in Oman to educate and update some more coaches,” said Mendis, who was part of the coaching team.
“It was a very useful course, providing a great opportunity to the qualified coaches to refresh and enhance their knowledge. All these coaches will now apply that knowledge and skill to their coaching methodology for a few years before they qualify for the next level,” he added. Mendis, who is also Oman’s Head Coach, said Oman Cricket was pleased to host a very successful course conducted at Oman Cricket Academy which has top class facilities to conduct such events.
