Muscat: A vehicle was in flames on Sunday morning in a Shell petrol station in Hujairamat in Wilayat Ibri.

Public Authority of Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) officials said they put out the fire without any injuries being reported. “The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” it said.

Earlier, it had advised the motorists to exercise caution while filling petrol.

They also asked people not to smoke or talk on mobile phones at petrol stations.

The tweet from PACDA urged people to report any spillage to the staff. They also asked petrol station attendants to ensure that the fuel pump nozzle was disconnected from the car fuel tank before the vehicle left.
