State Council discusses enhanced role for ‘friendship committees’

Muscat: The State Council yesterday held its second annual meeting of the fourth annual sitting of the sixth term under the chairmanship of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.
The meeting hosted the honourable heads of the friendship committees at the State Council to discuss with them their proposal on ‘regularising the work of the parliamentary friendship committees.
The Chairman of the State Council highlighted the importance of the role played by the joint friendship committees at the State Council in enhancing cooperation relations with friendly and sisterly countries through exchange of visits, researches, studies and experiences. They also ensure joint coordination towards the different issues and subjects at the regional and international parliamentary conferences.
The Office reviewed with the honourable heads of the friendship committees the ideas and visions towards ‘regularising the work of the parliamentary friendship committee’, which may contribute to enhancing the work of these committees.
The State Council Office also reviewed the annual report of the Financial and Administrative State Audit Institutions for 2017 and called on the committees to benefit from the rich information in the report. The meeting reviewed the evaluation of the 2nd and 3rd regular session of the fourth annual sitting of the sixth-term which were held on Tuesday and Wednesday December 11th and 12th 2018.
The State Council Office also reviewed a number of incoming letters and issues from honourable members and from the Assistant Secretariat General for the Information Centre and Researches Affairs.
It also reviewed the follow up on implementing the decisions taken at the previous meeting and the follow up report on the activities of the committees during the period between the previous meeting and this meeting.
