Al Jassmi to become first Arab to perform at Vatican Christmas concert

Muscat: Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi is set to make history as the first Arab to perform at the Concerto di Natale in Vatican City this Saturday.
The singer announced the news to his 2.6 million fans on Instagram, saying he was "honoured" by the invitation.
"With tolerance and peaceful co-existence, we, leaders and citizens, honour Zayed’s vision. My style is to embark on promoting interfaith and affinity among religions and people," he wrote.
"I am honoured to accept the Vatican’s invitation to be the first Arab artiste to participate in the annual Christmas charity event with all proceeds going to benefit the refugees in Erbil, Iraq, and Uganda."
Al Jassmi will join heavyweights such as American Jazz legend Dee Dee Bridgewater, Spanish pop artiste Alvaro Soler, and Italian singer Giovanni Caccamo at the concert.
His upcoming performance marks another highlight in the Emirati's career.
The singing sensation from Khor Fakkan has received numerous awards throughout his career, including a Murex d’Or award for ‘Best Arabic Male Singer'.
