More than 80 per cent of Muscat Municipality's blue-collar workers are expats

Muscat: According to statistics released by the Muscat Municipality, expats account for 83 per cent of its blue-collar workforce.
The Municipality released these statistics in accordance with International Labour Day. According to the report released, "17 per cent of the employees in Muscat Municipality are Omanis while 83 per cent are expats."
However, the agency added that blue-collar workers comprised 36 per cent of their total employees.
Additionally, 73 per cent of employees work in the service sector, the health and technical sector each has 13 per cent of employees, followed by one per cent who work in the general sector.
Nearly 30 per cent of all Municipal employees work in the Seeb Municipality, followed by Bausher, Muttrah and Quriyat Municipalities.
