Majlis reviews ministry reply on monitoring unit for government performance

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura reviewed the reply of the Council of Ministers on the desire of Majlis to set up a unit for measuring quick performance and quality insurance at the governmental organisations. The proposal has been appreciated by the Council of Ministers.
During its 4th meeting of the fourth annual session of the 8th term, that was held under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma'awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura, Majlis Al Shura Office pointed out that the relevant bodies at the governmental organisations play their role in improving production and governmental performance.
The session also reviewed the reply of Sheikh the Chairman of the Public Authority for Social Insurance on the question from one of the members about the Authority's investment plans and the measures taken to reduce the actuary deficit. The reply included a summary of the mechanism used to reduce the actuary deficit and the measures taken to address the challenges facing the investment plans.
It also reviewed the reply of the Minister of Commerce and Industry on the inquiry submitted by one of the members about the legal consultancy for the Commercial Companies Law. The reply included a summary of the legal consultancy measures for the Commercial Companies Law and the organaisations that contributed to it. The reply affirmed the Ministry's keenness to support SMEs.
The Office also reviewed the question directed by one of the members on the need to limit the spread of private tuition, the role of the Ministry to limit this phenomenon, the assessment mechanism for the teacher performance and how far the Ministry applies the legal rules and regulations to limit the spread of private tuition.
The Office decided to refer the issue to the Minister of Education.
The Office reviewed the reply of the Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs on the question about the fines for renewing the environmental licenses. The reply said that the Ministry initiates the renewal procedures automatically subject to enclosing no objection for renewal from the Public Authority for Mining.
The Office reviewed also the report of the Education and Scientific Research Committee on the desire to set up a Waqf fund for Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
On the other hand, the Office reviewed the Legislative and Legal Committee letter about its opinion about the activity report of the standing committees at the 3rd annual session for May and June 2018.
