Muscat: Aiming to exchange expertise, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) received a delegation from Cyprus, which included George Michaelides, Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation, and Antony Antone, Chairman of the Digital Security Authority of the Republic of Cyprus.
The visit included a meeting with Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, and meetings with the cybersecurity divisions in ITA. The delegation listened to a presentation about the e.oman Strategy and its achievements, and the Oman CERT roles and its accomplishments, in addition to its role in developing and defining technical standards and legal legislation related to cybersecurity.
The delegation was briefed on the services of the Arab Regional Cybersecurity Centre, which is hosted by the Sultanate and represented by the Information Technology Authority.
The presentation focused on the Centre’s efforts to address cyber-attacks and penetrations of Arab and regional countries, as well as advisory services.
The Cypriot delegation is due to complete its program today, with a visit to the National Digital Forensics Laboratory, which was launched by the ITA in 2016, in cooperation with law enforcement institutions to deal with digital evidence and the protection of ICT users in the Sultanate.
