Oman’s consumer watchdog helps recover OMR40,000 in one month

Muscat: Officials from the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in the Wilayat of Seeb helped recover OMR40,000 in one month, authorities announced.

Officials said that the amount was recovered by the Complaints Department after several grievances were resolved in November 2018.

According to authorities, the highest amount recovered was OMR20,766 from the labour services sector, followed by OMR 9,633 from the co ntracting and building materials sector. While OMR3,383 was recovered from workshops that repair cars, the rest of the amount was recovered from various other sectors.

Ziad Al Wahaibi, Director of the Department said: "The Department is working hard to preserve the rights of consumers through various legal means available. [The department also] stresses on the importance of the role of the consumer and their cooperation in submitting reports against violators."
