Mwasalat opens first solar powered AC bus shelter

Muscat: Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat), in cooperation with Oman Avenues Mall, announced the inauguration of the first solar-powered air-conditioned (AC) bus stop in a step that demonstrates the company’s keenness to use renewable energy as a means of preserving the environment and ensuring its sustainability as the Sultanate is going to use alternative energy in its future projects.
The AC and environmentally friendly waiting station is equipped with the latest technology. It is equipped with a fully air-conditioned system, controls and a special space for solar powered advertisement displays. Station users can also charge their mobile devices through the power points during the waiting period. The capacity of the station is between 10 and 15 People.
Based on the memorandum of understanding signed with the Lulu Hypermarket in June 2017, Oman Avenues Mall will have the right to name the air-conditioned station with exclusive rights to promote and advertise inside the station that is located on Sultan Qaboos Street near the commercial centre, thus can be reached by Mwasalat, allowing visitors to enjoy Mwasalat public transport buses and the facilities on board of the buses, such as free Wi-Fi.
