Boost for SAF as Joint Operation Centre and Maritime Security Centre open

Muscat: A celebration was held at Muaskar Al Mortafa’ah on Monday under the auspices of Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office to mark the opening of Joint Operation Centre and Maritime Security Centre, which are parts of the constant improvement and modernisation processes witnessed by the Sultan’s Armed Forces in a bid to enable them to carry out their sacred duties and roles.
The celebration coincides with the SAF’s celebration of the Armed Forces Day on December 11.
Upon arrival of the Minister of the Royal Office, he uncovered the plaque to mark the opening of the Joint Operations Centre and Maritime Security Centre. He was then briefed on the national duties of the two centres within the framework of the tasks and roles of the Sultan’s Armed Forces to preserve the stability and security of the country.
Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) Chairman of the Maritime Security Committee delivered a speech where he pointed out that His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has laid the foundations of security and stability in our dear country.
He added that opening this modern edifice is an important addition to the achievements made during the blessed Renaissance. He noted that the Joint Operation Centre will streamline the efforts among the military and security sectors to manage the operation and security operations and preserve the stability and security of our dear country. He added that the Maritime Security Centre will integrate and standardise the efforts of all maritime stakeholders.
Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office and attendees toured the two centres and reviewed their departments, offices and halls which are provided with state-of-the art equipment and tools to enable them to carry out their national duties in light of the royal care provided by the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces to the courageous forces to rehabilitate the armed forces personnel in different fields and provide them with the necessary resources that enable them to carry out their jobs perfectly.
The event was attended by a number of ministers, chiefs of staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, a number of senior armed forces officers, military and security services, undersecretaries, senior officers, members of the maritime security committee and invitees form the maritime security stakeholders.
On this occasion, Lt. Gen Ahmed bin Harith Al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces delivered a speech where he said: “It is our pride to mark the Armed Forces Day which falls on the December 11th.”
He added that this day is an important milestone in the history of the Sultanate in general and the armed forces in particular.
He noted that the opening of the Joint Operations Centre and Maritime Security Centre comes in response to the Royal Directives and His Majesty’s interest in the armed forces, as well as the security, military and civil services as well. He added that this was an important addition to SAF, security and civil organisations as well to help them keep pace with modern age.
“They also come as part of the efforts made to enhance the capabilities of SAF and help it carry out their national duties and defending the country and its valuable achievements,” he added.
