Find out which parts of Oman have the best mobile network coverage

Muscat: Mobile phone users can now discover signal strength and data speeds all over Oman, thanks to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority's (TRA) recently launched trial coverage map.
Officially known as the Coverage and Quality Service map, the new service allows users to easily find out where coverage is strongest. Searches can be done for different types mobile phone technology, including 3G and 4G networks. Users can also select their service provider of choice.
In addition to a coverage map, users can also search individual locations such as the Muscat International Airport.
According to the map's methodology, signal level is measured in conjunction with call and data tests on mobile voice and mobile broadband networks. Subsequent calls and data sessions are initiated to check network availability, accessibility, retain-ability and integrity. Test devices are locked to specific radio access technology ranging from 2G to 3G and 4G.
Data speed, on the other hand, is measured by testing the download speeds of mobile broadband networks. Data sessions are then initiated to test network availability, accessibility, retain-ability and integrity. Devices used in data speed tests are locked into either 3G or 4G frequencies.
