Oman’s share index ends on flat note

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended flat on a thin trading activity at 4547.73 points, down by 0.02 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 617.94 points, marginally up by 0.01 per cent. OIFC was the most active in terms of volume while Phoenix Power was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was OIFC, up by 2.47 per cent while Gulf Investment Services down by 2.47 per cent was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 136 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR269,000 with more than 2.09 million shares changing hands. Out of 13 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 7 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR100,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR8,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR108,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost by 0.14 per cent to close at 7074.16 points. Al Anwar Holding was the only gainer and was up by 2.00 per cent to close at OMR0102. Gulf Investment Services, Bank Muscat and HSBC Bank Oman declined by 2.47 per cent, 0.90 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 5328.66 points, down by 0.07 per cent. Al Maha Ceramics was the only loser and was up by 1.87 per cent to close at OMR210.
Services Sector Index up by 0.64 per cent to close at 2,381.94 points. OIFC and Omantel gained by 2.47 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively. National Gas and Pheonix Power declined by 1.78 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively.
