Royal Decree grants over 35 expats Omani citizenship

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said issued a Royal Decree that grants 37 expats Omani citizenship, in addition to giving six Yemenis dual nationality — where they can combine Omani and Yemeni nationality. The Royal Decree also restored Omani nationality of 41 people.

The Royal Decree article read, “After reviewing the statutes of the State issued by Royal Decree No. 96/101 and the Omani Nationality Law issued by Royal Decree No. 38/2014, and in accordance with what is required by the public interest, we have stipulated the following, Omani nationality shall be returned for all those listed in the attached list.

Another list named six Yemenis who will be granted Dual nationality, where they will be allowed to combine Omani and Yemeni nationality. Royal Decree number 36/2018 stated, "Omani citizenship shall be granted to all those whose names appear in the attached list and are authorised to combine Omani and Yemeni nationality"

The final list also included 37 people who were granted Omani nationality. According to the Royal Decree Number 37/2018, "Omani nationality shall be granted to all those whose names appear in the attached list."

The decree added, “These decrees shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall come into effect from the date of its issuance."
