Over 500 expat workers deported, 412 arrested in Oman

Muscat: More than 500 expat workers have been deported and another 412 have been arrested for violating Labour Laws, Oman's Ministry of Manpower has announced.
The workers were arrested between November 25 and December 1, 2018, the Ministry revealed in its weekly indicators of expat workers who were arrested through a joint operation.
Of the total violators arrested, 185 were “freelance” workers, 206 had left their jobs, and 21 workers were referred to by other agencies. Muscat, recorded the highest number of arrests with 112, followed by Northern Al Batinah with 69.
Meanwhile, the Ministry deported 518 workers "as a result of violating the provisions of the Labour Law", officials said.
