Heather Ford, an art teacher at the Sultan's School and the staff adviser for the auction, said she and the students who are organizing the auction have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support of artists in Oman who have donated over 170 works of art.

Though the auction is now in its fourth year, this year there have been more donations than ever before, Ford told Times of Oman.

"What we need now are people that not only love and admire original art in their homes, but people who are really generous and can dig deep. I'd like to up the game now and say [the artists] are donating beautiful pieces of art and they should be worthy to spend a little more money. It's a great cause," Ford said, adding that she hoped to raise at least OMR11,000, doubling the amount that was raised last year.
