eGovernment award winners to be announced next week

Muscat: With the participation of 64 projects, including 47 from government entities, nine from private organisations and eight from SMEs, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) is set to pick the winning project at the 6th round of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment 2018 on December 4, 2018.
The ceremony will be held under the patronage of Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs. Government officials, CEOs and professionals will attend the event to be held at the SQU Cultural Centre, Grand Hall.
The jury committee selected the winning projects in each award category in October,.
This year, the award ceremony will host Dr Belgacem Haba as guest of honour, who is an Algerian researcher and scientist in Microelectronics and the Internet.
Haba will give a talk on “Startup Opportunities in Immerging Technologies” on Tuesday morning at Sultan Qaboos University for students, ICT entrepreneurs and people interested in ICT and entrepreneurship.
Haba holds 489 US patents, and over 1,400 patents and patent applications worldwide. He is listed among the top 100 most prolific inventors worldwide. In 2017, he opened the Haba Institute in Algeria to help young entrepreneurs.
Haba has authored numerous technical publications and has also participated in many conferences worldwide. His latest activities include the development of 3D technologies for mobiles and servers.
