Oman’s share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower to close at 4393.06 points, down by 0.73 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 599.81 points, down by 0.48 per cent. Bank Dhofar Rights Issue 2018 was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Bank Dhofar Rights Issue 2018, up by 16.67 per cent while the top loser was Al Anwar Holding which closed lower by 8 per cent.
A total number of 544 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.93 million with more than 18.57 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 19 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net sellers for OMR770,000, followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR13,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR783,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 1.10 per cent to at 6,855.17 points. There were no gainers. Al Anwar Holding, National Bank Of Oman, HSBC Bank, Al Madina Takaful, and Bank Muscat were down by 8 per cent, 2.7 per cent, 2.5 per cent, 2.02 per cent and 1.42 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 1.02 per cent to close at 5,241.54 points. There were no gainers. Oman Fisheries, Almaha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 5.41 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 4.12 per cent, 1.94 per cent and 1.28 per cent respectively.
Services Index lost 0.51 per cent to close at 2,350.94 points. Dhofar Generating Company, Oman Education and Training, and Ooredoo were up by 0.92 per cent, 0.83 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively. National Gas, Muscat City Desalination, Muscat Gases, Majan College, and Phoenix Power were down by 4.42 per cent, 3.08 per cent, 2.65 per cent, 2.35 per cent, and 1.9 per cent respectively.
