Oman holds meeting with Office of UNICEF

Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by a number of ministries and other government departments, held a meeting with the Office of the UNICEF in Muscat to discuss the priorities of the national cooperation programme between the Sultanate and the UNICEF.
The programme is concerned with pre-school education and enhancement of child protection programme to conform with the Child Law and the care of disabled children for improvement of their quality of life.
Conducting the national survey on nutrition is one of the challenges of the programme, the results of which will be published in January 2018. the review of experiments of other countries is the priority of the programme in 2018 along with benefiting from such experiments.
Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Ma’awali, undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development gave a speech in which he tackled some indicators of the progress the Sultanate has made in the field of childhood, which progress is made due to the efforts accorded by the various government units in the Sultanate and the Unicef .
Lina Khalil, representative of the Unicef Office in the Sultanate gave a speech in which she said that the Sultanate was heading in the right track in terms of achievement of the objectives of sustainable development associated with health, education, nutrition and other services provided to children
It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Supreme Council for Planning and the National Centre for Statistics and Information ( NCSI).
