Oman’s Ministry of Health issues clarification on  Diclofenac injections

Muscat: The Sultanate’s Ministry of Health has issued a clarification about Diclofenac injections, after rumours surrounding the side effects of the drug were being circulated on social media.
"With reference to what is being circulated on social media about the dangers of diclofenac injection, the Ministry of Health wishes to clarify that scientific studies confirm that the benefits of this drug are more than the risk," the Ministry said in a statement.
“The chances of stroke or cardiac arrest is a simple possibility and patients with cardiovascular disease have been advised not to take the drug,” the Ministry added.
Diclofenac injection is a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug used to treat pain associated with conditions like gout, migraine, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains of muscles and joints and in mild to moderate fever in some cases.
