Muscat: Oman has won the award for ‘Best Adventure Destination’ at the 7th edition of readers’ choice India’s Best Awards hosted by Travel+Leisure India and South Asia. The award was received by Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman.
The awards, bestowed annually, has lakhs of travellers voting for the best experience across various categories that range from top hotels, resorts, spas, destinations, airlines, cruise lines, and travel service providers in India and across the world. Oman won the readers' choice honour for the first time, competing against several destinations and acquired one of the winning spots as the crowd favourite in the Adventure category.
Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman said, “We receive the award with immense pleasure and are grateful to be recognised as the best adventure destination. We would like to especially thank all the people who voted for Oman for its authenticity, stunning beauty and rustic adventure activities.
"This has come at a great time where Oman has witnessed 173,833 arrivals for the period of January to June 2018 with a cumulative of growth of over 15 per cent over the same period last year. We are looking forward to next year where we hope to see a greater number of travelers from India exploring Oman.”
Since 2014, Oman has witnessed over 31 per cent growth in Indian arrivals. In 2017 alone, Oman received 321,161 Indian visitors, showcasing growth of over 7 per cent in just one year.
From exploring one of the largest cave chambers in the world, Majlis Al Jinn, to snorkeling the colourful coral reefs of Daymaniyat Islands; or dune bashing in the Sharqiyah Sands or hiking in the mountainous terrains of Jabal Akhdhar; adventure is at the heart of every journey through Oman.
With close proximity to India, good flight connectivity from various Indian cities and a simplified visa process, Oman is on the go-to list for every adventure enthusiast.
