Unni Menon to wow Muscat with musical event on December 27

Muscat: As part of the New Year celebration, XpatAsia in association with Oman UAE Exchange Co and Sea Pearls LLC is all set to present Mazhaneerthullikal, a grand musical event featuring renowned Indian playback singer Unni Menon.

The musical night which is powered by Melody Events will be held on Saturday, December 27 at Al Falaj Hotel. XpatAsia is an infotainment programme presented by Times of Oman that is telecasted on India's Kairali TV every Friday at 2pm.

Speaking about the event, Sreekumar Venmoney, director of XpatAsia said the event will enchant music lovers. "We are coming back after a break and we are looking to offer a splendid programme," he said.

Popular singer Unni Menon is a household name in India and Oman as his musical career took off in 1981 through the movie Munnettam by Sree Kumaran Thampy and Shyam and also through Kadathu by Bichu Thirumala and Shyam. He is credited with singing more than 4,000 songs in films, devotional albums, romantic albums and serials in four languages.



He is a recipient of two Tamil Nadu State awards for the song Minsarakkanavu composed by A. R. Rahman and for the song Varushamellam Vasantham composed by Sirpy. Apart from these songs like Oo la la la, Enge Antha Vennila and Dhimthanana were all time favourites and bagged Unni Menon notable awards.
In the year 2012, Unni Menon bagged eight awards from Kerala for the mellifluous rendition of Mazhaneer Thullikal from the movie Beautiful besides enacting an important role in it. In 2003 Unni Menon composed and sang the all time classic Oru chembaneer poo written by Prabha Varma and enacted as the protagonist in the movie Sthithi.

He has rendered 25 valuable songs of A. R. Rahman starting with the music maestro's career best movie Roja. He has also worked for almost all the leading music directors like M. S. V., Ilayaraja, Harris Jayaraj, Vidyasagar, Deva, S. A. Rajkumar, Sirpi, Bhardwaj in south Indian languages Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. He also owns two recording studios in Kochi and Chennai.

Upcoming singers
According to Sreekumar, the event will also host Asianet Voice of Arabia and Muscat Idol winner Devika, Muscat Idol Runner-up Akhilesh. Upcoming singers Aiswarya Ajit and Sanjana will also perform for the event.
 
"It will be a real scintillating evening with melodious music that includes semi classical, melody and fast numbers sung in various languages," Sreekumar added.

The event is conducted exclusively to invited audience and will also be aired in one of the popular Malayalam television channel during a 30-minute presentation at prime time for a few weeks.
