PACA issues statement on tropical weather system in Arabian Sea

Muscat: Oman will not be affected by the deep depression forming in the Arabian Sea according to Oman's official weather department.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation has issued a statement regarding a deep depression forming in the Arabian sea. According to authorities, forecasts indicate that the depression could intensify into a " tropical storm" within the next 24 hours. However, PACA has stressed, "there is no impact on the coastal areas of Oman within the next three days."
In a statement, PACA said, "National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre's latest weather analysis and charts observed a formation of deep depression southeast of Arabian Sea today, November 17, 2018 with maximum average wind speed around the centre at 28-33 Knots (52-61 km/hr) and located near the coastal areas of India.
"Latest numerical weather predictions indicate movement of the deep depression towards west-northwest direction with a probability of further intensification into a 'tropical storm' within the coming 24 hours. There is no impact on the coastal areas of Oman within the next three days.
"Primary data also indicates the movement of the system towards the Horn of Africa and away from the coast of the Sultanate."
