His Majesty the Sultan pardons close to 300 prisoners

Muscat: A total of 298 prisoners have been pardoned by His Majesty the Sultan, ahead of Oman’s National Day and Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.
Out of the 298 prisoners, 140 are foreigners, officials have said.
According to a statement by Oman’s News Agency, “A special pardon for 298 prison inmates convicted in various cases [has been granted by His Majesty the Sultan], 140 of these prisoners are foreigners.”
According to authorities, those detained were also pardoned taking in account “the families of the prisoners."
