Muscat Municipality begins towing abandoned cars in Muttrah

Muscat: A large number of abandoned cars were seized by Muscat Municipality officials in Muttrah on Tuesday.
Abandoned cars are a constant eyesore for residents and ruin the aesthetic look of the city, according to officials. They are often seen gathering dust close to residential areas and car parks.
"The drive for removing abandoned cars started in Muttrah today and will continue for few days," a spokesperson of Muscat Municipality said.
He also called on owners of vehicles not to leave their cars abandoned in parking lots, roads or public places.
The municipality said this undermines the safety of residents, disrupts traffic flow and deprives the public of their right to use the parking and roads.
