Table Tennis: Shounak, Manvi claim U-17 titles at ISC Open

MUSCAT: Shounak Kelkar claimed the Boys Under-17 singles crown and Manvi captured a double crown at the Al Tasnim Enterprises-sponsored Open Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club, Muscat.
In the Boys Under-17 singles final, second seed Shounak upset defending champion Wiryawan Kiko and avenged his defeat to the same player in last year’s final. Shounak played with confidence and adopted an aggressive play to win 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-6.
Manvi Saravanan claimed a double crown when she emerged winner to claim the Girls Under-14 and the Under-17 singles title.
In the Under-14 final, Manvi outplayed Dimple Malawiya in straight games 11-8, 11-7, 11-0, 11-5.
In the Girls Under-17 final, Manvi faced stiff resistance from Tanishqa Mishra who put up a spirited fight before Manvi overpowered her with scores of 11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 11-3.
