Zinat Al Bihar to return today

Muscat: The Royal vessel Zinat Al Bihar” will return today morning to Sultan Qaboos Port in Muttrah from Cochin Port at the Republic of India after taking part in the 10th anniversary of the Indian Ocean Navy Seminar (IONS), hosted by the Indian Navy.
The participation came as per the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Seminar, Zinat Al Bihar will be accompanied upon departure form Cochin Port in India by two Tarangini Sdharsini sailing vessels. The seminar comes in a bid to revive the old maritime and spices routes from Malabarian coasts to Arabian Gulf coasts with the aim of promoting the Arab/Indian culture.
Enhanced cooperation
The voluntary initiative which celebrates its 10th anniversary seeks to enhance maritime and navigation cooperation among the states overlooking the Indian Ocean and the other states that have long maritime history.
The Indian Navy has hosted the 10th IONS, which was held under the auspices of the Indian Defence Minister in the presence of a number of senior officers from the member states.
The seminar discussed the maritime issues of common interest among the member states and sharing information among professionals and navigators.
The IONS is an annual event organised by major countries interested in this aspect that includes 32 coastal countries of the Indian Ocean Rim including the Sultanate of Oman.
