Oman’s share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower to close at 4467.28 points, down by 0.28 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 608.11 points, up by 0.14 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was OIFC up by 1.14 per cent while the top loser was Al Omaniya Financial Ser, which closed lower by 29.71 per cent.
A total number of 426 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.34 million with more than 8.66 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 11 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR174,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR159,000 while Omani investors remained as net sellers for OMR334,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.21 per cent at 6977.75 points. National Bank of Oman and Bank Dhofar were up by 1.09 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial Ser, Ominvest, Bank Muscat, Gulf Invest Services Holding and Al Sharqia Investment Holding were down by 29.71 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.03 per cent to close at 5355.19 points. Raysut Cement was up by 0.47 per cent. Galfar Engineering was down by 1 per cent.
Services Index lost 0.39 per cent to close at 2387.89 points. OIFC and Ooredoo were up by 1.14 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. National Gas, Omantel, Phoenix Power and Al Jazeera Services were down by 3.57 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.82 per cent respectively.
