Cultural Club to organise seminar on music in the thought of His Majesty

Muscat: The Cultural Club will hold a seminar on Tuesday under the theme “Music in the Thought of His Majesty the Sultan: Preservation and Renewal'. The seminar will be held at the Royal Opera House Muscat, coinciding with the Sultanate’s celebrations of the 48th Glorious National Day.
Organising this cultural seminar stems from the interest of the Clun on the importance of music in the life of people and civilisations, as well as an evidence of its progress and prosperity. Music was one of the important tributaries during the Blessed Renaissance, depicting the ancientness of the homeland and its authentic values.
The seminar will begin with a musical performance by the Oman Centre for Traditional Music where the audience will listen to a selection of musical pieces from the center’s band, ranging from national music to traditional Omani music.
The seminar will include two sessions.
The first session will include four working papers. The first paper will touch on the role of the Oman Center for Traditional Music in enriching the musical movement in the Sultanate.
The second paper will discuss the History of Arab Music.
The third paper will be presented under the entitle of the richness of the musical arts in Oman. The fourth paper will highlight the role of institutions in enriching the musical movement in Oman.
The second session will include four working papers.
The first paper will address the renaissance of arts and diplomatic culture in the high thought of His Majesty while the second paper will review the role and origin of the Orchestra in the cultural and diplomatic scene.
The third paper will touch on the military musical bands. The fourth paper will deal with the role of music curricula in establishing and activating cultural values in the Sultanate.
The seminar will also include an exhibition of musical publications. Several institutions will take part in the exhibition, including the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Royal Opera House Muscat and Oman Centre for Traditional Music.
