Athletics: Indian school Al Seeb holds annual sports meet

MUSCAT: Indian School Al Seeb celebrated its 15th Annual Sports Day on November 3, 2018 at the school premises with great mirth and verve.
The chief guest for the event was Vaishali Jesrani, Captain, Oman Women’s National Cricket Team, Yousuf Abdullah Salim Al Wahaibi, Vice-President, Seeb Club was the guest of honour.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Asawari Deoras (special invitee), Moidu A K, President, School Management Committee, other members of the School Management Committee and Principals from other schools.
The day’s events began with the Royal Anthem of Oman and National Anthem of India followed by the unfurling of the school flag. A spectacular, impressive and a well synchronized March Past was led by the four Houses contingents of the Middle and Senior Wings. The chief guest declared the Meet open marking the commencement of the ceremony. Thereafter, the pledge was taken by Suhail Das, the Sports Captain. It was followed by the lighting of the school torch by the Vaishali Jesrani and the athletes who are the national level players of the school relayed the school torch in a solemn ceremony.
The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event, was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participation, which splattered on the field. The displays included Pole Malkhamb (classes VIII and IX), Rainbow Drill display (VII and VIII) and Group aerobics Drill Display (V and VI).
The young athletes showed their prowess in the field and track events. The gathering witnessed the proud achievers receiving their individual as well as House trophies during the prize distribution ceremony graced by the guests. The individual championship trophies for the year 2018 were given in the following categories: U-11 Boys trophy went to Jermiah Aji Issac (Green House). Fathima Nasrin (Blue House) won the Individual Championship trophy in U-11 Girls category, U-14 Boys trophy went to Dhyan Deepak (Red House), U-14 Girls Championship trophy was bagged by Amaya Menon (Yellow House), U-17 Boys Championship trophy was shared by Adil Sabh (Red House) and Aditya S M (Yellow House), Natasha Robert (Blue Trophy) won the individual championship trophy in U-17 Girls trophy, U-19 Boys Championship trophy went to Adam Amjad (Blue House) and U-19 Girls trophy was shared by Devu Joby (Yellow House) and Sweta Shantilal (Red House).
Green House was adjudged the Best House in March Past and the Overall Championship was bagged by Yellow House amidst a loud cheer by the students as well as the spectators.
Vaishali Jesrani graced the occasion with her motivating words. She congratulated the achievers on their success and said that the programme fascinated her and this special experience will stay in her mind for ever. She exhorted the students to strike a balance between sports and academics as both are equally important.
The day ended with the lowering of the flag, the national anthem and a solemn promise in the hearts of all to uphold the spirit of sportsman spirit forever. Once again Indian School Al Seeb students proved their indomitable will power with the display of sheer excellence on Sports Day.
