Pakistan’s Imran Khan praises greater connectivity with China during Shanghai address

Muscat: Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the greater connectivity that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) provided the two countries with, during a keynote address in Shanghai.
Speaking at the opening of the China International Import Expo, Khan said, "CPEC is a mechanism to forge even closer connectivity between the Middle East & China and between Central and South Asia.
"In Pakistan the Karakorum highway merges into a network of modern highways that are part of CPEC. These take you to the deep sea port of Gwadar, the point where the Belt and Road converge and this impacts not only Pakistan but all economies of entire region."
Khan then highlighted his nation's assets, drive for transparency, and youthful population at the event.
"We are committed to improving our frameworks of transparency and accountability, leveraging technology for smart solutions for business and governance. We in Pakistan are blessed with an abundant array of resources ranging from minerals to fertile land to wealth of renewables and the most diverse landscape with 12 climatic zones.
"But by far our greatest and most promising resource is human," he stated. "We have 100 million Pakistanis below the age of 35, a young vibrant population and the naya or new Pakistan will be more conducive and more competitive place for transacting business," Khan added.
