45 expats arrested for fishing in Oman

Muscat: A total of 45 expat workers have been detained in Al Wusta for engaging in artisanal fishing.
A statement by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries read, "The ministry coordinated with the Ministry of Manpower and with the support of the Royal Oman Police in a regulatory campaign in the governorate of Al Wusta, which resulted in the arrest of 45 expat workers who were engaging in artisanal fishing. Those apprehended will be turned to legal action."
In the Sultanate, this is treated as a standard infraction of Article 28 of Oman's current labour code, when a non-Omani works in a craft that has been deemed Omanised in its entirety.
