Baltimore: The number of COVID-19 cases around the world is moving towards the 20 million mark, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
JHU’s Coronavirus Resource Center shows that there have been a total of 19,902,316 cases of the disease so far reported across the globe.
A quarter of these cases are in the United States, which has seen 5,047,401 cases so far, making it the country with the highest number of people infected in the world.
Brazil is second, with 3,035,422 cases, while India is third (2,215,074). Russia has reported 890,799 COVID cases, and South Africa rounds off the top five with 559,859 cases.
The resource centre also shows that 731,993 people have unfortunately died from the disease worldwide, while 12,137,202 people have recovered from it.
