Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,576.75 points, down 0.30 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up by 0.12 per cent at 521.61. Oman & Emirates Investment, up 9.76 per cent was the top gainer while Arabia Falcon Insurance, down 9.80 per cent, was the top loser. Gulf Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Ominvest Perpetual bonds was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 629 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.5 million, with more than 14.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 14 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR280,000 while local were net buyers for OMR181,000 followed by GCC & Arab for OMR99,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.61 per cent at, 5,703.32 points. Oman & Emirates Investment, Gulf Investment, Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investment and Al Madina Takaful were up by 9.76 per cent, 4.11 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 1.41 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively. Arabia Falcon Insurance, Ahlia Insurance, Muscat Finance, HSBC Oman and Oman United Insurance were down by 9.80 per cent, 5.52 per cent, 3.92 per cent, 3.30 per cent and 2.78 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,966.59 points, up 0.20 per cent. Galfar Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel were up by 6.25 per cent and 3.30 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 1.47 per cent and 1.29 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.49 per cent before closing at 1,543.07 points. Muscat City and Sembcorp Salalah were down by 8.18 per cent and 1.79 per cent respectively.
