Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,587.35 points, up 0.54 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended down by 0.01 per cent at 521.05. Oman & Emirates Investment, up 7.89 per cent was the top gainer while Al Madina Takaful, down 2.63 per cent, was the top loser. Gulf Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 616 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.2 million, with more than 12.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 5 declined and 12 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR195,000 while foreign were net buyers for OMR150,000 followed by local for OMR45,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed up by 0.56 per cent at, 5,738.57 points. Oman & Emirates Investment, Gulf Investment, Muscat Finance, Al Omaniya Financial and Bank Muscat were up by 7.89 per cent, 7.35 per cent, 6.25 per cent, 5.56 per cent and 2.87 per cent respectively. Al Madina Takaful and HSBC Oman were down by 2.63 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,958.29 points, up 0.29 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics, and Oman Cement were up by 2.13 per cent, 2 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively. Gulf International and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 0.96 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.79 per cent before closing at 1,550.73 points. Sembcorp Salalah, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Phoenix Power and OIFC were up by 3.7 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively. Renaissance Service was down by 0.53 per cent.
