Tropical depression alert: PACDA issues statement on preparedness

Muscat: The Public Authority of Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) has confirmed its readiness by strengthening the centres with mechanisms and equipment to deal with the tropical depression in the Northeast of the Arabian Sea.

A statement issued online by PACDA said, "Since the issuance of Statement No. 1 from the Public Authority of Civil Aviation on the tropical depression in the Arabian Sea, the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) has put its centres on standby as well as activating operational plans for dealing with climatic conditions. Governorates expected to be affected have been provided with equipment and mechanisms specialised in search and rescue operations to support civil defense and ambulance centres respond and deal with reports that may occur due to the orbital depression."

PACDA calls on citizens and residents to take utmost care, to stay away from low-lying places, valley streams, electricity poles and lighting during the rains, and not to risk crossing the valleys when it rains. They have also urged for installing boats in safe places, monitoring children, not spreading rumours, and following the bulletins issued by the competent authorities.
