Data indicate signs of decrease in COVID-19 cases in Sultanate

Muscat: The Sultanate is witnessing a decrease in the total number of COVID-19 cases.

A statement issued online by Oman TV said, "A report issued by the Ministry of Health stated that epidemiological data in the Sultanate indicate signs of a decrease in the total number of cases infected with Coronavirus, and patients admitted at hospitals and in intensive care departments."

"According to the epidemiological curve in the Sultanate, the 7-day moving average for sick cases reached its peak in the first week of last July at a rate of two thousand infections, after which it begins to gradually descend. Until the end of July, the average number of cases reached about one thousand, with a decrease of 500 cases per week. The Ministry of Health indicated that the peak of infection was in the governorate of Muscat in the latter half of June, and other governorates followed to reach its peak in mid-June, while the peak of hospitalisation and intensive care cases was reached during the third week of July," the statement added.
