Exercise caution while responding to WhatsApp messages

Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has issued a warning for people to avoid fraudulent operations and not to disclose any personal or banking information.

The Central Bank of Oman calls on all citizens and residents of the Sultanate to exercise caution and not to respond to text messages or WhatsApp messages from people impersonating as bank officials. It has also alerted the public to not open any accompanying web links without any confirmation.

The bank has stressed to not disclose any personal or banking information over the phone or social media, and not respond to fund transfer requests to the accounts of companies or individuals without confirming that those accounts belong to the transferees in order to avoid any fraudulent operations.
