Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,568.10 points, up 0.28 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up by 0.14 per cent at 521.05. Renaissance Service, up 2.70 per cent was the top gainer while Oman Packaging, down 6.67 per cent, was the top loser. Gulf Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Ooredoo was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 443 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.7 million, with more than 12.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 8 declined and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR370,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR254,000 followed by GCC & Arab for OMR116,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.28 per cent at, 5,706.39 points. Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment, Al Anwar Holding and Bank Dhofar were up by 2.70 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 1.49 per cent, and 1.00 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,947.28 points, down 0.35 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic was up by 1.3 per cent. Oman Packaging, Oman Refreshment and Raysut Cement were down by 6.67 per cent, 4.00 per cent and 1.31 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.13 per cent before closing at 1,538.51 points. Renaissance Service, Al Jazeera Service and Ooredoo were up by 2.70 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Muscat City, Oman National and Dhofar Generating were down by 1.89 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.74 per cent and 1.10 per cent respectively.
