Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,461.36 points, down 1.22 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.35 per cent at 521.54 points. Gulf International, up 5.83 per cent was the top gainer while convertible Muscat Gases, down 8.89 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 473 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.1 million, with more than 6.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 14 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR373,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR274,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR99,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed down by 0.96 per cent at, 5,479.67 points. Vision Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, Gulf Investment and Al Anwar Holding were up by 5.26 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 1.69 per cent and 1.49 per cent respectively. Bank Dhofar, HSBC Oman and Bank Dhofar were down by 7.62 per cent, 2.27 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,935.16 points, down 0.90 per cent. Gulf International and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 5.83 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Steel, Salalah Mills, Raysut Cement, Oman Cement and Oman Flour were down by 6.38 per cent, 3.41 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 1.78 per cent and 0.99 per cent.
Services index was down 0.59 per cent before closing at 1,557.01 points. Muscat Gases, Ooredoo, National Gas and Omantel were down by 8.89 per cent, 2.94 per cent, 2.94 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively.
