Eid Al Adha could fall on this date in Oman

Muscat: Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on Friday, July 31, a member of Astronomical Affairs at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs said.

According to MERA officials: "If the weather is clear, we will be able to see the crescent month of Dhu Al Hijjah on Tuesday July 21 evening in the Sultanate’s sky."

MERA said in a report: "The crescent of the lunar month of Dhu Al Hijjah 1441 is to be spotted on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 And if they are able to be seen, Wednesday would be the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah and Friday, July 31, corresponding to 10 Dhu Al Hijjah, will be the first day of Eid Al Adha."

"If the sighting of the crescent is not confirmed, Saturday August 1 will be the first day," the MERA official added.

According to Royal decree No 56/ 2020 to determine the dates of official holidays, Eid Al Adha holiday will be From 9 to 12 of Dhu Al Hijjah.

"If any of the two days of the weekly vacation, or both of them fall within the aforementioned days of vacation, then one day will be compensated."
