His Majesty issues 70 Royal Decrees over the last six months

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik has issued 70 Royal Decrees on appointments, amendments of laws, issuance of new laws, ratification and endorsements of agreements, treaties, and international conventions, ever since he took over in January 2020.
The maximum number of Royal Decrees (40) were issued in March 2020. June has seen the establishment of new government entities, and the issuance of 21 Royal Decrees, including appointments in the administrative units of the State.
The first decree promulgated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik was in February, through Royal Decree No. 2 which amended annexure no. 3 of the Law of the State Flag, Logo and National Anthem. The same month has also seen the renewal of the first category licence of Oman-Qatar Telecommunications Company SAOG.
Of the 40 decrees issued in March, 10 Royal Decrees were issued on 1st March and 10 more were announced on 9th March, which dealt with appointments, including that of the Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Special Envoy to His Majesty the Sultan, the Minister of Heritage and Culture, the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Art Affairs, Advisor at the Diwan of the Royal Court, Advisor to the Ministry of Heritage and Culture , Secretary General of the National Museum, and appointments of diplomats.
March has also seen issuance of a Royal Decree granting the Secretary General of the National Day Celebrations Committee the rank of a minister, issuance of the law of the internal security service, six Royal Decrees on ratification of a number of international agreements and treaties, six more related to oil agreements, and a Royal Decree on issuance of the taxation authority system.
April has seen issuance of 13 Royal Decrees on appointments in the administrative units of the State, Royal Decrees granting Omani nationality, a decree on official holidays, Royal Decrees on international agreements and treaties, and another amending the provisions of the Royal Decree on the members of Oman Human Rights Commission, among other decrees.
May has seen issuance of two Royal Decrees on the Sultanate joining international agreements, while June has seen issuance of six Royal Decrees including establishment of the Private Office, the Oman Investment Authority, the ratification of an agreement between the Sultanate and Slovakia on avoidance of double taxation, and prevention of tax evasion.
July has seen the issuance of seven Royal Decrees on appointments including the appointment of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Undersecretary for Fisheries Affairs at the same ministry, the Undersecretary for Heritage Affairs at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, among other appointments.
