Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,497.56 points, down 0.18 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.09 per cent at 520.38 points.
SMN Power, up 6.67 per cent was the top gainer while convertible Al Omaniya Financial, down 6.67 per cent was the top loser. Al Omaniya Financial was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 403 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.382 million, with more than 12.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 7 declined and 36 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR192,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR130,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR62,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed down by 0.34 per cent at 5,525.85 points. Al Madina Investment, Oman & Emirates and Bank Nizwa were up by 4.55 per cent, 2.50 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial, Oman Arab Bank, Gulf Investment, Muscat Insurance and Sohar International Bank were down by 6.67 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.67 per cent and 1.23 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,958.75 points, down 0.121 per cent. Al Maha Ceramics was up by 1.67 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Jazeera Steel and Oman Cement were down by 2.13 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,555.75 points. SMN Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Sembcorp Salalah and Muscat Gases were up by 6.67 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 1.81 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating and OIFC were down by 3.13 per cent and 2.44 per cent respectively.
