Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,503.86 points, up 0.28 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.09 per cent at 520.29 points. SMN Power, up 5.26 per cent was the top gainer while convertible United Power, down 8.33 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Gulf Hotels was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 229 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.4 million, with more than 5.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 8 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR238,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR140,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR98,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed up by 0.28 per cent at 5,544.83 points. Ahli Bank, HSBC Oman and Ominvest were up by 2.46 per cent, 2.30 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Al Shaiq Investment, Bank Nizwa, Gulf Investment, Al Anwar Holding and Ahli Insurance were down by 2.99 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,963.51 points, up 0.04 per cent Al Anwar Ceramic was up by 0.67 per cent.
Services index was up 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,553.31 points. SMN Power, Muscat Gases, Phoenix Power, Ooredoo and Oman Education were up by 5.26 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. United Power Muscat City and Al Jazeera Service were down by 8.33 per cent, 4.35 per cent, and 0.58 per cent respectively.
