Citizen donates 3000 seedlings to National Initiative

Muscat: The National Initiative for planting 10 Million Wild Trees was launched on the Omani Environment Day (2020), as a partnership between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs and the Oman Petroleum Development Company.

A citizen donated more than 3000 seedlings as part of a national initiative to plant 10 million wild trees in the Sultanate. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs said, "The first sponsor of the national initiative is citizen Said Al Habsi, who donated 3,710 seedlings of wild trees."

The Ministry calls upon citizens and residents to contribute to the initiative by registering on the forum https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/7dde3e38928f4ac9b92acf7073817ed6.

The list of wild trees that will be planted includes Acacia Tortilis (Simr), Christi (Sidr), Prosopis cineraria (Ghaf), Moringa peregrine (Shu'), Boswellia sacra (Luban), Acacia gerrardii (Tulh), Maerua crassifolia (A'Sarh), Sterculia Africana.
