Muscat: 42 industrial units had been closed by the end of June for not complying with precautionary measures issued by the Supreme Committee, an official at the Public Establishments for Industrial Estate-Madayn announced.

According to Madayn data, by the end of June, inspection visits were conducted in 2392 industrial units to monitor their commitment to precautionary measures. Of these units, 1669 were found to be adhering to the precautionary measures, warnings and practices; correction notices were issued to 723 units; and violations were filed on 43 units, out of which 42 were closed.

Madayn had issued regulations to deal with violators among the industrial firms of the decisions issued by the Supreme Committee that is tasked to deal with COVID-19. These regulations are based on the Ministerial Decisions no. (167/2020) and (186/2020) issued by the Ministry of Manpower. “The decisions are being enforced in the industrial cities. Fines collected from violating firms will be transferred to the account of the fund designated to counter coronavirus pandemic,” says Eng. Basim Al Zadjali, Senior Health, Safety and Environmental Health specialist at Madayn.

Al Zadjali went on to add, "In cooperation with Mubadrah Oman, Madayn has carried out sterilisation and disinfection operations for 224 industrial units, in addition to sterilisation operations in the administrative buildings of the industrial cities, Knowledge Oasis Muscat and Al Mazunah Free Zone."
