The group consisted of those who’d registered with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oman, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak, and included short term visitors, pregnant women, students, female domestic workers, those who’d lost their jobs, and people who needed to travel due to medical and personal emergencies.

The group also included Sri Lankan doctors who have completed their employment contracts and assignments in the Sultanate of Oman. All returnees will be undergoing mandatory quarantine on arrival in Colombo at government quarantine centres free of charge, and self-paid quarantine at hotels allocated by the government authorities.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Muscat wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health as well as the immigration, aviation and Muscat International Airport authorities of the Sultanate of Oman for their kind support and cooperation in facilitating the smooth repatriation process both ways.

The embassy also wishes to place on record its sincere gratitude to well-wishers of the Sri Lankan community, who extended financial assistance to some of the Sri Lankan nationals, in helping them obtain their PCR tests before their departure.
